BrownBear has had a varied musical beginning leading to his debut foray behind the decks in 2014, taking inspiration from his fathers jazz, funk & soul drumming, he first left New Zealand to pursue a career as a jazz and progressive rock drummer and to further his musical studies, before discovering his love for electronic music. These inspirations show through in BrownBear’s sets; which blend percussive groove and layered melodic basslines into his own desert-inspired combination of house and techno sounds, as well as his production; including his debut EP Inner Space, which made it in to the top 10 Deep House release chart on Beatport.

BrownBear has been regularly featured on lineups and events for various Melbourne electronic music collectives and labels, including The Sound Project, Pelican Villa and Off The Rekord, as well as recently being added to the Melbourne Dance Music Academy roster following an appearance on their Temple of Boom stage at Burning Seed ’17. He can also be found at various club slots around Melbourne, including Disco Volante at Onesixone, Circus Sunday’s, Day Spa at Pawn & Co and his two current weekly residencies; I Love 3181 at Revolver Upstairs and OVER at Killing Time Bar, which he has been involved in organizing and booking for over a year as part of the Hindsight Music collective. Further, BrownBear makes regular appearances on various shows on TRNSMT.TV and KISS FM.

These appearances have led BrownBear to be invited to play support slots for international powerhouses such as Super Flu, Luigi Madonna, Shiba San, Lovebirds, Daniel Avery and The Badgers, as well as festival bookings in both Australia and New Zealand , including Circoloco Melbourne, Rainbow Serpent Festival Theme Camps, Shipwrecked (NZ), Babylon, and Luminate (NZ).
