Greater Houston Community Foundation
After receiving an overwhelming number of inquiries from citizens and companies who want to help, Mayor Sylvester Turner and County Judge Ed Emmett have established the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund that will accept tax deductible flood relief donations for victims that have been affected by the recent floods. The fund will be housed at the Greater Houston Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity.
Houston Food Bank
In fiscal year 2016-2017, the Houston Food Bank distributed 83,000,000 nutritious meals. Every dollar donated to the Houston Food Bank provides the equivalent of three meals for an individual.
United Way of Greater Houston
We have launched the United Way Relief Fund to help support our community in the aftermath of Harvey. The devastation is great and is growing. Our community will need incredible resources to recover. 100% of your gift to the United Way Relief Fund goes to help our neighbors and our community recover from Hurricane Harvey.
Humane Society Animal Rescue Team
Just a few weeks after Hurricane Harvey response, the Animal Rescue Team is now ready to deploy to areas affected by Hurricane Irma. We are currently in communication with agencies throughout Florida. Some areas that Hurricane Irma was not expected to hit have found themselves in the storm’s path, and plans are quickly unfolding to keep animals safe. We have also begun transporting animals to make room in local shelters, and there will likely be an ongoing need to relocate animals after the storm passes.
St. Bernard Project
SBP was founded in March 2006 following Hurricane Katrina. With the tremendous support of donors, volunteers and corporate partners, SBP has grown from a three-person volunteer team into a national organization headquartered in New Orleans, and recognized as a leader in disaster resilience and recovery, with a mission is to shrink time between disaster and recovery.
Brother’s Brother Foundation
BBF is connecting with local charities in Florida to send several shipments of relief supplies in response to Hurricane Irma. These plans, including but not limited to, involve supporting Gleaning For The World’s (GFTW) shipments of cleaning supplies, bleach, thermo-blankets, and bottled water. Based on continuing needs, additional tractor trailer loads will follow.
GlobalGiving
GlobalGiving connects nonprofits, donors, and companies in nearly every country around the world. We help local nonprofits access the funding, tools, training, and support they need to become more effective. Currently focusing efforts on the Mexican earthquake as well as Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
Heart to Heart International
Heart to Heart International has been treating hurricane victims in Texas since Harvey hit the coast. Our medical team is currently working in the Houston area, operating free clinics (Clinic in a Can) which provides the health safety net for thousands of hurricane victims. Prior to Irma making landfall, we prepositioned a mobile medical unit, along with medical teams, medicines and supplies.
All Hands Volunteers
All Hands Volunteers is a volunteer-powered disaster relief organization dedicated to Rebuilding Hope for people impacted by natural disasters all over the world. Over the last 12 years, we have enabled over 39,000 volunteers to donate 200,000 days impacting 500,000 people worldwide.
Americares
Since our founding in 1979, Americares has delivered more than $15 billion in quality medical aid and innovative health programs to 164 countries, including the U.S. Americares has been in close contact with its network of more than 80 local health centers, free clinics and response partners in Florida, as well as partners in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and other Caribbean nations.
Direct Relief
As Hurricane Irma advances, Direct Relief is ready to respond with medical assistance to affected communities. Direct Relief has also been involved in recovery efforts for the massive 8.1 earthquake reverberated through Mexico Thursday night, the strongest in a century. Direct Relief is also supporting efforts in Houston and throughout Texas and equipping health clinics that care for the State’s most vulnerable.
International Medical Corps
International Medical Corps is mobilizing and supporting relief efforts in response to Hurricane Irma and the earthquake in Mexico. Help us prepare for these and other crises around the world.
International Relief Teams
We are prepared to provide emergency food, water, medicines and other relief supplies, as needed. In addition, we have medical teams ready to deploy to areas where medical services may have been compromised by the storms.
