Elena Brower: A Yogi’s Guide to Parenting

Mother, teacher, and author Elena Brower discusses what our children need most from us.

This is part of a Wanderlust series from Wanderlusters in Australia and New Zealand. Check back for more Dispatches From Down Under. Be sure to check out a Wanderlust event Down Under as well!

A mother, teacher, speaker, and co-author of Art of Attention, Elena Brower has been teaching yoga and meditation since 1999. She and her son, Jonah, led this heartfelt Speakeasy together at Wanderlust Thredbo this past February about raising great kids.

As a parent you are constantly faced with the challenges of learning how to relate to your children on an even playing field. What processes do you need to ensure they are empowered yet have the ability to listen, respect, and forgive? More importantly, how do you admit when you’ve messed up and how do you fix it? Elena and Jonah offer simple yet profound techniques on how to be a family with feeling and raise kids to become amazing adults.

“Own your part as a parent. When you screw up, make sure you apologize, and make sure you forgive yourself so that the kid has an example of how to forgive you, by your own example.” – Elena Brower
